Happy Spring Semester, 2025, MotSIG members! The leadership team has a few messages to share with everyone regarding the AERA 2025 Meeting Program, Early Career events, Graduate Student events, and job/leadership opportunities
Motivation SIG AERA 2025 Meeting Program:
The 2025 AERA Annual Meeting Preliminary Program is now available! Log in to My AERA or click here to view it without logging in. Please note in particular our SIG business meeting on Friday evening–we want to see you there!
Our leadership team is hard at work planning the SIG social, so stay tuned for details about this coming event via future SIG emails. We are aiming for Friday just before or just after the business meeting, but this may need to change based on venue availabilities and prices. As always, space will be limited and tickets to the social will be made available on a first come, first served basis.
Graduate Student Committee:
Pre-AERA Grad Student Survey: We want your input! Nominate faculty for Karabenick Conversations, share your preferences for our social, and share your interest in all of our AERA programs by completing this survey: https://forms.gle/swvUAyhcdWVVkXy29.
Motivation Monday: Our next Motivation Monday event will be held January 27, 2025 at 7:00PM EST to discuss The Publishing Pipeline: The Writing Process, Navigating Journals, Feedback, and Reviewers. We will host a panel of scholars to discuss the writing process and all the hidden tidbits of advice within it. We have a great panel! All are welcome to join the discussion. Register for the zoom session here: https://tinyurl.com/MotMonday24-25
Grad Student Writing Groups: We are continuing to collaborate with DIV C, Complexity Theories SIG, and Teaching Educational Psychology SIG to host weekly writing groups. Our writing groups offer graduate students a designated space for writing productivity and support. Come check in with others, make some progress, and potentially even receive some feedback! Our writing groups meet regularly on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 AM EST (register here), Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM EST (register here), and (New Time!) Wednesday mornings from 11 am-1 pm EST; 10 am – 12 pm CST; 9-11 am MST; 8-10 am PST (Wednesday Morning Registration here) **For our regular Writing Group attendees, please note our Wednesday morning session time has changed. The Studying and Self-Regulated Learning (SSRL) SIG is sharing their Times Magazine with the Motivation SIG community. Members of our MotSIG community will find this issue of great interest, given this particular issue’s focus on prominent motivation folks. I’ve attached the Magazine to this email as a pdf. Enjoy!
