Self-Affirmation Mechanisms and Theory Conference Accepting Submissions

Self-Affirmation Mechanisms and Theory Conference Accepting Submissions

Hi all —

I wanted to send out an announcement about the Self-Affirmation Mechanisms and Theory Conference that we are hosting here in Pittsburgh on Friday, July 26th and Saturday, July 27th. The deadline for submission is tomorrow, Friday May 10, so there’s still time to apply to present your research! Best of all, registration is $0 — that’s right, free.

The goal of this conference is to curate a program that bridges the gaps between the different areas of self-affirmation research: health, education, and social behavior. With symposia, flash talks and panel discussions, our goal is to open up the conversation, reflecting on where self-affirmation research has been, and planning where it goes next. There is a great lineup, including folks like Claude Steel, Geoff Cohen, Jenny Crocker, David Sherman, Janine Dutcher, and David Creswell, as well as several other scholars from across a variety of areas and topics!

You’re invited to submit presentations for symposia, flash talk, or poster formats. Information, including registration and submission details, can be found at the conference website: https://affirmationpalooza.weebly.com/

The conference is especially encouraging trainees (students, research staff & postdocs) to submit their work for a flash talk. They’ve received generous funding from the Society for Personality and Social Psychology to fund a few travel awards for trainees.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the conference organizers at [email protected]. Looking forward to seeing you in Pittsburgh this summer!

Best,

Kody
