The University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia is offering Scientia PhD Scholarship in Educational Psychology (‘Exploring the Link between Explicit Instruction and Student Motivation and Engagement’) for a suitably qualified candidate to undertake research studies under Professor Andrew Martin leading to a PhD in education (educational psychology). The proposed PhD is a quantitative study of school students and investigates the links between two seminal areas of contemporary educational psychology: (a) academic motivation and engagement and (b) explicit instruction. This PhD will explore an integration of these two areas, with particular focus on key aspects of motivation and engagement (e.g., self-efficacy, self-regulation, anxiety etc.) and key dimensions of explicit instruction (e.g., structure, scaffolding, worked examples, deliberate practice etc.).Expression of Interest and CV are due November 11, 2016.
