The School of Education (SOE) in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenure-line faculty position in Learning Sciences/Educational Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of August 16, 2019.
We seek a dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic colleague who will collaborate with current faculty in the design, instruction, and leadership of learning sciences/educational psychology in pre-service elementary and secondary teacher preparation. In addition to engaging in teacher preparation, we seek a colleague who will engage in scholarly research, serve on master’s and doctoral committees, and teach courses in one’s area of specialization in SOE graduate programs that serve students studying education in P-20 and informal learning environments.
Though we are open to the area of research specialization and methodological approach, we are particularly interested in equity-centered scholars who have a line of inquiry focused on one or more of the following: (a) learning sciences/educational psychology as applied to individuals from birth through early adolescence; (b) assessment of learning in formal and informal settings; (c) student learning, growth, and/or development; (d) learning across formal and informal contexts; (e) cultural and linguistic diversity; (f) identity; (g) educator preparation; and (h) motivation.

Required Qualifications:
(a) An earned doctoral degree in Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field by the start date (August 16, 2019).
(b) Evidence of potential to develop an active research agenda, establish a strong publication record, and secure external funding commensurate with rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at Iowa State University.
(c) Evidence of a commitment in research and professional practice to equity in education.
Preferred Qualifications:
(a) Experience working in/with the preparation of pre-service teachers.
(b) Experience teaching at the post-secondary level.
(c) Evidence of the potential for a sustained scholarly focus on equity in education.
