The Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Human Development and Learning to begin August 15, 2019. The department is continuing to build their Human Development and Learning programs by adding a faculty member with expertise in adult development and learning. Qualifications. An earned Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies, Child Development, Instructional Design and Technology, Psychology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. The ideal candidate will have expertise in adult development and learning in applied settings and demonstrate a strong commitment to working with diverse populations in urban contexts. For instance, in addition to engaging in applied research on/with adults, successful candidates might employ a variety of methods to examine: adult learning and cognition; family systems; instructional design and technology; mental, physical, and behavioral health; or psychological well-being as these unfold in diverse contexts such as community-based, educational, healthcare, museums, online platforms, residential or senior care, sport, or workforce/training settings. Candidates should have a demonstrated potential for academic publication in peer reviewed journals, externally funded research and evaluation, and teaching experience commensurate to an assistant professor. Ideal candidates will be ready to teach courses in face-to-face and online formats, showing promise for successful teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses may focus on adult development and learning, human development, lifespan development, applied research methods, fieldwork, and/or life course theory and methods. Secondary teaching interests may include courses related to adult health and wellness, workforce transitions, workforce development, healthy aging, or a relate area of expertise.
