Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology at Boston College

The Motivation, Metacognition, and Learning (MML) Laboratory at Boston College, under the direction of Dr. David Miele, invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellowship in applied developmental and educational psychology, with a focus on student motivation and self-regulated learning. The position involves work on several research projects investigating the influence of students’ beliefs and motivation on their use of cognitive strategies in laboratory and classroom settings, as well as the influence of teachers’ motivation on their support of students’ strategy use.

The fellow will work closely with Dr. Miele and his collaborators from across the country to develop new research projects, conduct analyses, present findings at major conferences, publish research papers, mentor graduate students, and write grant applications. An important aim of this position is to further the fellow’s development as a scholar and prepare him or her for a career in academia.

Applicants must have a PhD in a psychology- or education-related field, such a educational/cognitive/social psychology, learning sciences, cognitive science, etc.. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with a track record of conducting experimental studies on motivation, cognition, and learning, experience conducting research in K-12 settings, exceptional academic writing skills, and advanced quantitative skills (e.g., HLM, SEM).
